Abandoned WITN Concept 1 by spherco Abandoned WITN Concept 1 by spherco
This idea had too many technical constraints and had to be abandoned. Still, it was fun getting this far!

It was actually a game-design issue, not an art issue.

In the original game design for War In The North, the three character classes(human, elf, dwarf) started in different areas. That ended up being a problem, so in the shipped game all the classes start in the same area. This image was to be the startroom for the human/male/mage.

ooooooh i see :) so really it was just a big mix up? well i am glad to be able to see the aftermath none the less! :) i was about to say "they dont like it! i will make them pay!" lol but since it wasnt an art issue i will keep them from being punted in the ass :)

Ha! This sort of thing happens alot in games. Most of the time, I draw something and the technical art director says "We can't do that"...so I laugh and go draw something else:)

lol i wish i could say that. right now i cant draw in photoshop at all. i usually draw, and color, in sai, but since i started talking to you i have been trying photoshop again. sai doesnt have the layer settings or color control that photoshop has so i want to be able to use both, and hell i started in photoshop... i am just used to sai right now and it is hard to go back... you ever use sai? if so and you have some tips that would be awesome!

so what games have you done art for? i would love to be able to say "i know that man!"
:p

soooo.... any chance of an art book release of art from this game, similar to what Joe Madureira released from Darksiders?

We talked about a book but I doubt it will actually happen. WITN didn't do well enough sales-wise to warrant an art-book:(

Thanks for being interested enough to ask:)

Thanks! The design of the game changed and this area became irrelevant.

Not so much an art problem but a shift in gameplay priorities.
